COVID-19 Information

To Members & Friends of Olean First Baptist Church,

We regret to inform you that a member of our congregation has tested positive for and is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. Out of respect for the person’s privacy, we are withholding their name but can share the following details:

The person was in close contact with several people who worked on the Operation Christmas Child activities. These people have already been contacted by the Cattaraugus County Health Department and have been instructed to quarantine for 14 days.

The person also attended our worship services on November 8th and 15th but was not at the November 22nd service. The Health Department might be in contact with any persons who attended those services.

Pastor Jason was in close contact with the infected person and must be quarantined for 14 days. He will also be taking a COVID-19 test in the next day or two and will let us know his results. Regardless, he will be unavailable for worship services on November 29th and December 6th. He will also not be available for office or home visits, etc.

In response to this situation, we have hired a professional cleaning service to “COVID-19 deep clean” the church building. This cleaning took place on Tuesday afternoon, November 24. Therefore, we do plan to hold Sunday worship on November 29th.

If our plans change, we will keep you informed via e-mail or phone messages.

Also note that Dave Torrey has suspended the Pause for Power activities on Wednesday evenings. Other cancelations might be required as the County Health Department does contact tracing using names provided by the infected person. Please be in prayer for all of those impacted by this situation and for all suffering from the wide-ranging effects of this pandemic.
